My impression is that the matplotlib-only <tt>showDetectorMap</tt> doesn't suffer from this problem.</p> <p><tt>DetectorMap.display</tt> should be changed to only plot every Nth point in the traces like <tt>showDetectorMap</tt> does, and it will go faster.</p> <p>Paul's suggestion is also fine.
