 Description   

As described in PIPE2D-615, the first version of the implementation of the algorithm has some issues (see the ticket). Some issues seen seem to be connected with the weird variance that were corrected in PIPE2D-927. Having said that, there are still problems that I am noticing in the variance image creation and results are inconsistent (at the moment the algorithm actually fails when searching for the optimal solutions!). This ticket is indentify these issues and solve them.
