 Description

The plan is to disconnect SuNNs and connect dummy cable B in roughly 1 month time (somewhat depending on the shutter delivery and SuNNs alignment progress). This ticket is to document:

1. What data we want/need to take
2. Estimate needed observation time for this data and our total observation time requirments
3. Establish how many times we would need intervention by Julien, i.e., trip to the summit

My current thoughts are:

For one configuration of DCB fibers:

Flats: halogen=20 duplicate=6
Arcs: argon =12 duplicate =24
Arcs: krypton =12 duplicate = 24
Arcs: neon =4 duplicate = 24
defocusedArcs: argon/krypton=12 duplicate= 24 or
defocusedArcs: neon=4/12 duplicate= 24
Flats: halogen=20 duplicate=6
Arcs: argon =12 duplicate = 24
Arcs: krypton =12 duplicate = 24
Arcs: neon =4 duplicate = 24

From previous experience, one defocused run with exposure time of 12 seconds in focus takes 25 hours. We conduct 3 such runs and another one with 4 seconds in focus.

25 hours x 3.33 = 83 hours

Flats: halogen=20 duplicate=6
Arcs: HgAr =24 duplicate =24
Arcs: Neon =12 duplicate =24
defocusedArcs: HgAr=24 duplicate=24
Arcs: HgAr =24 duplicate =24
Arcs: Neon =12 duplicate =24
Flats: halogen =20 duplicate=6

We conduct one defocused run with nominal time of 24 seconds in focus. This is around 2x times longer than 12 seconds run, i.e., around 50 hours

All togehterh approximately 133 hours for one configuration of DCB

Around 24 hours contingency for up to timeframe of 7 days

2 configurations = 2 weeks of time.

I also wish to ask for Julien to open the pupil to get more flux - the current configuration was done to not saturate the detector with 15 sec exposures - but if we are taking data without shutter (apart from HgAr data) that is not an issue anymore. As such we should optimize flux as to approach HgAr saturation in blue in cca 15 to 20 sec.

I also need to consider the need for dithered data, but note that this will use only relatively short amount of observations time.

Based on work specified in PIPE2D-556, when we switch fibers I recommend switching from the previous 10 fiber configuration to the configuration with:
1. yellow fiber bundle
2. orange fiber bundle
3. blue fiber bundle
4. red fiber corresponding to fiber 3 (red2)

5. red fiber corresponding to fiber 649 (red7)

Hassan can you just have a small look over this and make sure that everything is clear or something else needs to be specified or clarified.

Feedback has been provided directly and during the recent ICS/DRP+SPS telecon on 2021-04-28.

I think the work required for this ticket has been addressed now.
