This should be done as cleanly as possible. In many cases changing the type of a variable (e.g. a loop variable from int to size_t) is sufficient. Where the problem comes from e.g. the type of an afw member variable it'd be better to unpack the needed value into a variable of an appropriate type than to cast it overtime that it is used. At some point we'll have to do an audit for casts and confirm that they are all really needed – let's not add extra ones now! |
