Dear all, We would like to finalize the Internal Illumination System (IIS) of the spectrograph System which illuminates the engineering fibers. Currently there is no continuum source only arc lamps (neon and hgar). Arc lamps source choice will be finalize after the NIR test I think. if we need continuum we could use the diode. we will add a fixed attenuator on each lamps to have a ~20s exposure time So the question is what is the plan to process these data? We can reduce the engineering fibres like any others — that is, once we see some engineering data we'll make what ever changes are needed. The design of e.g. the DetectorMap was intended to handle all the fibres. This assumed that the diodes are broad-band enough to illuminate all the wavelengths that the instrument can detect. This means that we can provide (x, y) or (fiberId, lambda) values for all the arc spots, as well as e.g. FWHM. Are there other requirements? |

The new fibers will need to be included in the pfsDesign. |

Indeed. I thought about suggesting that we add engineering fibres to the simulator, but I think it'd be better to see some real data first. |

I've been assigned this ticket, but it's not clear what needs to be done. Is further information from our side required? |

Mainly the question was about the need (or not) to have flat/trace for engineering fibers , which is not the case right now at Subaru |

Sounds like nothing further is needed from our side. |
