 Description

The choice of parameter resolutions is a trade-off between computing/storing costs and an accuracy of flux calibration. Before making interpolations of AMBRE model templates, the resolutions are need to be determined. The resolutions are determined based on an accuracy in photometric typing of stars.

hassan Could you move this ticket and the blocked ticket PIPE2D-365 to Sprint I?

I decided to make interpolation spectra at parameter resolutions of delta_Teff = 50 K, delta_logg = 0.25, delta_[Fe/H] = 0.25, and delta_[alpha/Fe] = 0.2. Therefore, I will divide the current parameter grids by five and 2 along Teff and log(g), respectively. Those of [Fe/H] and [alpha/Fe] do not change.

We require that a resolution of each parameter (step) is less than an equivalent change of a parameter to a 0.01 mag (=1%) of a color. 1% corresponds to the uncertainty in HSC photometries.
The original steps of parameters are 250 K, 0.5, 0.25 - 1, and 0.2, in Teff, log(g), [Fe/H], and [Alpha/Fe], respectively.

Synthetic colors, g-r and r-i, of AMBRE model templates with 6000K < Teff < 8000 as a function of each parameter (Teff, log(g), [Fe/H], [Alpha/Fe]) are shown in the figures.
Four parameter sets are over-plotted (black lines). They are extreme cases in each parameter.

The parameter changes corresponding to 0.01 mag for the four cases are roughly 50 K (Teff), 0.25 (log(g)), 0.6 ([Fe/H]), and 2 ([alpha/Fe]).

Fig: Parameter changes corresponding to a 0.01 mag color change. Only the 4 cases are shown.

If you have any comments, please let me know. I will make a parameter list table with these resolutions and then I will run an interpolation process for all the parameter grids.

The interpolation process for all the parameter grids will be done in the main ticket.
