 Description
  • Instrument stability
  1. Cobra configuration allHome, set of quartzes(1-3) taken at the end of each night.
    1. brn arms (one repeat) 2-6 minutes
  1. Cobra configuration allHome, morning twilight taken few times during the run.
    1. brn arms 20 minutes
  • DetectorMap + Flux normalisation
Cobra configuration allHome, Full set of arcs and quartzes to fit the detectorMap, taken at the end a few times during the run.
Note that we don't need instrument stability data on top of that for those nights.
  1. brn arms (one repeat per lamp + 5 quartzes) 20 min
  2. m arm (one repeat per lamp + 5 quartzes) 20 min
  • background study :
  1. Sparsed sky data, in the evening, For cobra configurations in [allHidden,mod32,mod16]
    1. Roaching 20 minutes + brn arms (3 repeat) 15 * 3 minutes, total= 65 minutes
  • psf
  1. turn individually ring lamps and see the effect in the spectrograph psf
  • FiberProfiles
  1. For cobra configurations in [mod4+1 mod4+2 mod4+3 mod4+4]:
    1. get in allHidden config(20min)
      1. quartz brn For dithers of -0.4, 0.2, 0.0, 0.2, 0.4 pixels, 14 min
      2. quartz brn, 2 repeats, 4 minutes
      3. quartz bmn For dithers of -0.4, 0.2, 0.0, 0.2, 0.4 pixels, 14 min
      4. quartz bmn, 2 repeats, 4 minutes
    2. reveal mod4+x
      1. quartz bmn For dithers of -0.4, 0.2, 0.0, 0.2, 0.4 pixels, 14 min
      2. quartz bmn, 2 repeats, 4 minutes
      3. quartz brn For dithers of -0.4, 0.2, 0.0, 0.2, 0.4 pixels, 14 min
      4. quartz brn, 2 repeats, 4 minutes
  • Sky-subtraction
  1. Move to sky design, brn, 15 min per-plate
  • biases/darks (Telescope not necessary)
  1. brm 2 hours
  2. n arm will be taken every now and then for persistence.

That's great, but I don't see a discussion of how often we need to repeat measurements. I think that arnaud.lefur has shown that the `r3` throughput (averaged over the band) changed relative to the other three spectrographs, so we probably want to take data every night (probably at the end of the night because of n-band persistence)

Thank you for making the list. I have a couple of questions

  1. For "DetectorMap + Flux normalisation" do you think one frame per lamp is really enough? We originally took one per lamp, but following your suggestion, we increased the number of exposures to three in the July run. Did you confirmed one exposure is really enough?
  2. For "psf" using the ring lamp, could you explain how to take? do you plan to do roaching, defocus the slit and take data? Note that it takes 10min to warm up and stabilize the ring lamp, if necessary.
  3. This is a request. could you put priority (A/B/C or high/middle/low etc.) on each items?

October cancelled, will create a new one for upcoming observations.
