New CALIB dataset available at Hilo at /work/hassans/createCalib/CALIB-PIPE2D-1158. See notes subdirectory for processes executed (calib-generation-20230121.md) and key log files that include fit statistics.
To understand the effect of gain adjustment, figure Figure 65-4.png shows 1D plots of an example {{fiberTrace}, summed along the y (wavelength) direction, with the gain correction (PIPE2D-1142) applied (blue) and not applied (orange). The amplifier boundaries are overplayed as red vertical lines. While the gain adjustment is clear, in general there are no noticeable discontinuities across amplifier boundaries. Figure 65-4.png shows a zoomed in version of the same plot around one fiber trace that is close to an amplifier boundary, and the improvement with the new gain (blue) is apparent.
The remaining plots are of key lines from a twilight exposure visit 83259, reprocessed with the new CALIB. The wavelength solution appears to be good.
Note that this new calibration dataset has not yet been installed in the official area at Hilo, Summit and PU. I delegate that to arnaud.lefur, who will be taking over the role of calibration product custodian.
