 Description

We have requested Robert B. to generate defocused Zemax images . He has generated those and we discussed them with JEG last Friday (May 13, 2022). I have also requested that he generates the list of wavefront coefficients, so that I can compare those with the one I generated Once he generates and send me those, the task is to import them and visualize the results + compare with my predictions and real data estimates.

In the meantime, I have found that his estimates are very similar to my own estimate from 2019 (that I have found in the meantime). In that regards it seems very likely that Zemax outputs that Robert B. is creating are similar to my own outputs.

We were then talking about how the outputs that Zemax wavefront outputs for the spots on the red edge of the detector have really low amounts of astigmatism in them. When I try to create the image with the wavefront that Zemax is producing, these models look very circular, i.e., very different than Zemax defocused images. Once again we commented that we are not sure what does Zemax exactly do when creating wavefront fitting, and how does that compare to what I am doing.

Robert B. decided to do an experiment and produce wavefront estimates at the position of the exit pupil, in order to better understand what is happening.

We are expecting to talk next week again (between June 1 and June 3)
