the hostname convention is define here: https://github.com/Subaru-PFS/ics_doc/tree/master/SoftwareStudyNote/SSN-00028 We like to modify the hostname convention to match with the current names and to define more meaningful names we could use software-nfs for mhs software share data-nfs for data share

I strongly agree with adding meaningful aliases. |

I also agree to the idea.

That works for the hosts, but I'm not convinced that will make fstabs universal because of the server export points. Subaru uses /datapool/proddata and /datapool/software. I think I can change JHU to match, but can LAM? |

unfortunately that seems not possible at LAM so that's right that we will have to update fstab, but having the same host is maybe useful anyway ?

I see... so I'm afraid this assumption is not so good...
Probably we could use just nfs-ics (and digit for S/N) as a base line, and add feature if you need to separate NFS server for each component (e,g, nfs-software-ics, nfs-data-ics). The summit server seem to use nfsv-ics, so it may be confusing to delete this section completely now.. |
