The current xcuActor optionally controls a roughing pump and gauge. Since these are outside the piepan the functionality should be pulled out. I'll assume that both pumps and gauges can be controlled from one host. All four are serial devices, and IDG has a MOXA for the purpose. There already is an ics_roughActor, it just needs to be tidied up and added to github. |

I didn't know that the plan is to control the roughing pump remotely. Currently, the only interaction that the xcuActor has with the roughing is to read the gauge value. It's totally fine, but I'm curious of what's coming next. |

At JHU and Subaru, the Edwards pump is controlled remotely. I suspect that we could add a basic start/stop function for the LAM pump, even if it is a lie. As it stands, there will be two rough actors, one for each pump/gauge station. |
