All the PFS instrument hosts have a pfs:pfs user, which comes from the site LDAP server. For programs which write image files, we also need a pfs-data:pfs-data account, which is also in the pfs group. The reasoning is that we do not want normal users to be able to delete/modify image files. Can that account be created? |

Craig, LDAP user & group pfs-data created. I created the following,
My assumption is that this need to be done on a number of systems. Not sure what the best way or list of systems. |

Actually, most of the systems which will use pfs-data have not been delivered yet. Basically the spectrographs themselves, and specifically the "BEE" Linux boxes, which are in the 12 cryostat piepans and are where the image acquisition programs run. But we need to reconfigure those before we ship them to Subaru (Q3?), and need to know the uid/gids for when we find a convenient moment (hah!). Thanks. I'll probably close this tomorrow. |
