I was just chatting with Jim-sensei. I think we'd also like a set of in-focus images with the slit dithered by 1/2 a pixel in each direction (i.e. an extra 3 exposures with offsets (0.5, 0.0), (0.5, 0.5), (0.0, 0.5) in addition to the one at (0.0, 0.0)). The sampling is actually a bit worse than a factor of 2, but we don't think we need to routinely take data with 3x3 dithers. We may also ask for occasional dithers of out-of-focus data, but that needn't be added to the reference data set either. |
