 Description   

This ticket is based on the discussion at the commissioning telecon in Dec 2021.

AG status should be displayed in real time not only on gen2, but also on PFS internal. For example, 

  • Mosaiced images of 6 cameras, overlaying measured/predicted positions and highlighting the used stars.
  • It is nice to correct orientation of these images to match the sky.
  • Plot to show how well guiding is working.
  • Others useful diagnosis

Eric-san, Yoshida-san and I talked about this on 4 March, Eric-san indeed developed visualizations on Ginga already using simulated FITS file. At present Ginga can

  • Display 6 AG images (it can be aligned based on WCS.).
  • Overplot circles for the predicted and detected positions, and vectors between them (i.e. offsets). The circles have different color according to stars magnitude.

Besides, time series of telescope pointing error is shown on Gen2 screen showing telescope status (statmon ?), although is possibly different from what AG actor sends to the telescope, as telescope have a filter.

We agreed that Eric-san will develop the following items.

  • Another plot of 6 cameras on the sky. (He actually made it for HSC, but it wasn't used since the CCDs are very far from each other and not so convenient).
  • Make the arrow scale configurable
  • Overplot the (final) guiding error on camera images
  • Make the min-max of color bar configurable
  • Let another field be used as color code.

Yoshida-san will send another sample using the real image.

During the June run, visualization tool worked well and nicely showed AG images and their measurements and status.
