 Description

We should add a top-level command to take flats/traces for SuNSS. Unfortunately we cannot control the lamps, so we have to depend on Gen2 and the operators, but we can check whether the right ones are on and that the telescope is aimed correctly.

Telescope configurations and exposure time for SuNSS flat

  • Telescope
    • Telescope pointing to the zenith
    • Mirror cover closed (we don't use the telescope itself)
    • Dome main shutter closed
    • Set the top screen positions to the dome flat observation position for HSC (one in the front side, and the rest two in the rear side).
    • Dome Flat (trace): Turn on 4 120V lamps, with maximum current. Turn off the dome inside illumination and lock the dome.
    • Room Light (arc): Turn on all room lamps.
  • Dome exposure time
    • b and r : 5 sec x 10--20 frames
    • b and m : 8 sex x 10–20 frames
  • Arc exposure time
    • b and r : 10 sec x 4 frames
    • b and m : 9 sec x 4 frames

Note: the top screen positions are not normal for day-time work. So we took data (b and m, 9sec and 20 sec) with the screen away to compare the signal and scale exposure time in this configuration.
