Please improve error diagnostics in PfsParseTask.getInfo()

      Description

      If you pass an unrecognised filename to `PfsParseTask.getInfo` the error message is

      Unable to interpret filename: ...

      rather than anything more useful. Please fix this.

      And while you're in that file, why is the comment "Try old format" a string? And why do we need to support an old format?
